Some of these old coots need to stop hanging on and die already LOL.

Interracial Couple Attacked: Black Woman & White Man Viciously Beaten By Mob!

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Police Sgt. Sammy Morris tells Fox 8 News that three students from Rhodes High School have been arrested for felonious assault in connection with the attack of a young, interracial couple.

Morris says the arrested males are Brandon Carter, 19, Jose Infante, 18, and a 15-year-old juvenile male.

The couple says they were attacked while walking home after school. They believe they were targeted because they are an interracial couple.

Umm, didn't this JUST happen last year to another about a year ago to another interracial couple??

When Interracial Relationships Goes Wrong

I guess the "Prince" thought he could pump a few gallons of gas and get away with this mess:

A down low, gay Saudi prince was found guilty today of killing his black sex slave in February in a London hotel where they were staying.

Prince Saud Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Al Saud, 34, was found guilty of killing Bandar Abdulaziz, 32, and of causing grievous bodily harm.

Black Woman Married To A White Man Gets Ridiculed On Air...

Talk radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger issued an apology for saying the N-word several times during an on-air conversation with a caller this week. "I talk every day about doing the right thing. And yesterday, I did the wrong thing," Schlessinger said on her radio show Wednesday.

Schlessinger was referring to a call she got on her show Tuesday from an African-American woman who said she was married to a white man and was getting fed up with her husband allowing his family and friends to say things that she felt were racist.- CNN

What in the tomandhelenwillis Hell is going on? Did the woman ever get some adequate advice?

What Does An Asian College Kid Know About Stepping In The Name of Love?

I tell you what, there's absolutely nothing that will stop young creative, progressive people from getting their message heard. The passion and energy that they possess is simply limitless.

Some how I became a Facebook friend to one such kid by the name of Vouthynar "V" Sovann.  While attending college at Maryland University, V manages to find time to admin not one but two sites dedicated to interracial relationships.

I've showcased one of his sites previously on DWB but didn't realize he was one of the founders back then.  Interracial dating among Asian men/black women continues to draw the curious and one topic posted by a member on his forum drew over 150 responses!

V, himself an interracial dater, is known for his lavish house parties, family friendly events, and holiday inspired bashes.  I have yet to make it to one of his parties but I've heard that people are traveling from as far as Texas and Georgia to attend.

Bravo's Top Chef Stirring...I Mean Swirling It Up In the Kitchen!

Oh goody!  I've been scanning all over the blogosphere to catch a microcosm of coverage on the semi-interracial lust couples on Bravo's Top Chef.

Color me late to the party on this for I care not:

Ok first love story occured between Barbadian beauty Tamesha and hot-n-spicy Angelo.  Now before Tamesha got the ax, Angelo followed her around the house like a love-sick Chihuahua.

Shamelessly whispering in her ear and professing his feelings for her, Angelo left the other contestants feeling a bit uneasy.  As on cue, the usual  suspects were straight hating and giving Sweet T plenty of advise. Recently, Tamesha has been quoted saying the two are "just friends" but we can dream can't we?

Next  up we have the storyline between Tiffany and Ed.  Don't quote me on this but I believe these two are also eleminated.  I'm currently trying to catch up on the shows via On Demand, and I'm about 2 episodes behind.

For your reading pleasure, here's an interesting link about Ed and Tiffany after the jump...

Def Leppard's Guitarist Swirls it Up On Wedding Day!

Love Bites? Well, not for Def Leppard lead guitarist Phil Collen. The British rocker married costume designer Helen L. Simmons on the beach at Florida's Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach resort in a sunset ceremony Friday. "We've been looking for each other our entire lifetime," Collen tells PEOPLE. "To say we're ecstatic this day has finally come is putting it mildly. It could only be us for each other." People Magazine

A few reactions from some readers over at People Magazine (surprisingly most were positive):

From Mindy:
I've loved Def Leppard for over 25 years, but Phil is a skank. He is not blessed, he will not have a long and happy marriage. This is his third time, the last wife he cheated on and had two kids outside of the marriage. He makes it sound as though this is his first time finding the love of his life.

From Bev:
Congrats, Phil! I am a long time fan and wish you and your beautiful bride a very happy marriage!

From Pricilla:
Congratulations. Being married is wonderful when you get to enjoy a lifetime with the person you truly love.

From Deborah:
How long into the marriage is he going to cheat on her? He's a rich horny old man. He changes his girlfriends like people changes underwear. The people on here wishing him well must not know his track record very well.

From Facebook User (responding back to Deborah):
Gosh Deborah...you sound like one bitter old hag he
dumped back in the 80's...he must have really broken your heart for you to be so angry...get over it already...Wish them joy and happiness...and life will work out for them as it is meant too...Stop being so angry and bitter...your life will be better for it!

"Hipster" Dating In Brooklyn

Looking for love? Got five minutes and some Ray Ban wayfarers?  Speed dating, a party where groups of people have micro-dates over the course of an evening in a sort of amorous musical chairs is being rebranded as a younger, hipper alternative to online dating.  In Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood, an event called "The Internet Killed Your Social Skills" is drawing crowds every first Thursday of the month, filling a bar with a sea of 20-somethings in fedoras.  Julia Segal, 25, founded the event, nicknamed "hipster speed dating," as a way to polish up the dating skills that online dating and social networking sites, such as Facebook, have helped to obliterate.  Since it began six months ago, the event has gained enough momentum to warrant a second night. Soon hipster speed dating will come to nearby Park Slope- Ryan McClendon

Park Slope…really? I thought Park Slope was filled with pretentious married yuppies with children.  Who knew?

Can We Please Let It Go?

So I was invited to an interracial get together a few days ago.  I had an amazing time- great food, great wine, and interesting people. There were men from all walks of life: white collar, blue collar, computer analysis, teachers, and entrepreneurs.  There were various races present too: Caucasians, African-Americans, Asians, and Haitians just to name a few.

But here lies the issue:

At one point during the evening, a young black woman leans over to me and whispers, “I always wanted to know why black men came to parties like this.” Then she glared over to the two black men having a lively conversation with three white women over glasses of wine.   I looked over at her and said “I’m hoping they’re here for the same reason you are…to meet people and fun.”

Suddenly she snapped out of her fog like daze and said, “Um what I’m saying is, I’ve dated white men before…my last boyfriend was white, but like, since I’ve moved here, black men, don’t really seem interested.”  Now keep in mind there was a bi-racial man (Asian/Black) sitting next to her and heard our conversation.  He interrupts her and asks, “Then why do you care what black men are doing?”  So she spends the next 10 minutes trying to back-pedal her way out of the question.  However “bi-racial guy” still tries to flirt with her (hard too) but her head was still stuck on the “brothas” at the party-and it showed too!

Just to be fair, black women aren’t the only ones who just can’t let it go and move on.  I came across a very impressive website dedicated to Asian men and the women who love them.  It’s been around for about four or five years now.  There are active forums, galleries, and members can create individual blogs.  If you are in a relationship with an Asian man, there’s a support system in place where you can discuss cultural and relationship issues.  I believe the main purpose of the site is to reinforce positivity as well as uplift Asian men.  A concept I believe many would agree that’s needed in the Asian community.

However, many of the Asian men spend most of their time on the site blogging about …wait for it…Asian women!  Topics like, “why are Asian women dating white men”, “we love our Asian beautiful women”,  “why are Asian women dating/marrying out” are blogged and discussed quite often.

Of course the writers and forum members are met with the usual “you guys are so sexy there are plenty of women who love you and find you beautiful and yada, yada, yada.  In one of the forums there was even some talk about hooking up with white women just to get back at Asian women.  For a minute I thought I was on Black Voices or the Young Black and Fabulous site.  The similarities were uncanny.  How creepy is that?

At first I thought about joining but I asked myself why? Instead I exited the site thinking to myself, “Wow, is this how non-black men feel when they hear black women spouting off about black love?”

When Interracial Dating Goes Wrong: O.J. Simpson Set to Marry Pen Pal

The actor has fallen in love over a series of letters that the duo exchanged with each other and he has proposed to her for marriage, she will now be his third wife.  The pen pal called Anna is a young blonde; she had sent her picture to Simpson who flipped after looking at the picture and is believed to be a spitting image of his late wife Nicole. The former football star had been acquitted of her murder in 1995.

Simpson is currently serving jail time at Nevada’s Lovelock Correctional Centre for armed robbery case in Los Angeles- Entertainment Biz

Dating Expert Says Black Women and Asian Men Make Beautiful Couples

African American women sometimes feel they are under attack from a constant stream of negative information from the media. ABC News and “Nightline” both recently featured long segments dedicated to the problems black women face finding suitable mates. And with many African American men struggling with low graduation rates and high incarceration, those problems don’t seem to be going away.

Many black women have taken to dating outside their race and are looking at white, Latino and Asian men — and that is good thing according to dating expert JT “The Asian Playboy” Tran.  Tran says that African American women and Asian men have a lot in common, because they are often avoided by members of their own race. He urges both groups to open their dating horizons.

Despite The Odds, Omaha Nebraska Swirling It Up!

We welcome all interracial couples and multicultural families. This is a group where we can feel free to discuss the issues and problems of our lives as well as celebrate who we are and how we feel about our diversity- Lanee Amador

According to the 2008 Census Bureau, Omaha's racial makeup of the city is 78.4% White, 13.3% African American, 0.7% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.92% from two or more races. 7.5% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.  Despite (or in spite of) the numbers, The Midwest Interracial Couples/Multicultural Families Group is breaking new ground!

Founded by Lanee February 2010, its been a little difficult organizing the Meetups and picking up members. The Midwest Interracial Group has 6 members and is expected to increase as the word gets around...and perhaps the restriction on the maximum age will drop.

So if you happen to live in Omaha, the home of Paypal, Warren Buffet, TD Ameritrade and LinkedIn, show Lanee some love and get your swirl...if you're under 35.

Funky Winkerbean- Does Interracial Storyline Imitate Life?

Batiuk decided that when Lisa Moore's widower, Les, moved on, it would be with a black woman named Cayla. The ghost of Lisa even pops up to give Les the thumbs-up on the union, when Cayla admits to being a Woody Allen fan. Later on, the two middle-aged single parents steal a moonlit lip lock in the car- Saloman

So the last time I checked, Les and Cayla made a cameo appearance back in May. In the last panel, Cayla was standing in the cafeteria with egg on her face:

What's up with Batiuk introducing a black woman to the mix after Les' wife kicked the bucket? Why did Batiuk feel it was necessary to age them like Rip Van Winkle? Orderlies will be serving smashed peas to these two the next time we see them!

Will anything ever come of these two? Why even introduce Cayla while it's clear that Les is infatuated with
Susan. Why does Cayla look so frumpy? Or is the storyline so boring predictable it doesn't really matter?

So many questions...

We Interrupt Our Regular Scheduled Broadcast....

It's All About Reciprocity

OK so I was doing my surfing rounds yesterday and was mildly perturbed. As I was visiting my favorite BWE bloggers (see the above blog roll); I was guided to a link that led to a forum somewhere within askmen.com

Lo and behold a writer/commenter screen name "JE" on Ask Men has used bits and pieces of an article I wrote for
EzineArticles and for DWB. It's bad enough he didn't cite nor quote me, he added some very nasty stuff about black women in his write-up. Thereby giving the impression that the writer is a disgruntle white man, not a sexy black woman, such as myself. So without the cites/quotes you have no idea who wrote it.

I am no different than a writer/blogger from a big time magazine or large blog. I'm using MY creative energy (yeah I got a little bit) and MY time and I think I deserve some credit.

As you can see I cite everything I use because it's only fair. It's fair to the writer and to the readers. To be credible is everything!

There's also another white male blogger/website owner who continues to snatch bits and pieces from my blog without citing me. Not very nice!

Just to be warned, I will waste no time putting folks on blast!

Black Man Gets Locked Up Because Of Letter To President Obama

Not everyone expects a response when they write a letter to the president of the United States. But Caroline Jamieson got much more than she expected when her husband ended up in jail and afraid he would be deported. Jamieson, vice president of marketing at a new-media advertising company, wrote President Barack Obama in January because her husband, Hervé Fonkou Takoulo, was facing deportation to his native Cameroon. Takoulo failed in a bid before political asylum almost a decade ago, and a judge issued a deportation order after they were married. After he and Jamieson married on 2005, Takoulo applied for a green card based on his marriage to a U.S. citizen. But immigration law requires that the deportation order be lifted before the couple can appear before immigration officials to argue their case that the marriage is legitimate and not a ploy to legalize Takoulo's presence in the United States. More after the jump...

OK, let me get this straight, they went against the deportation laws but the wife felt a "kinship" with the President and because the process was "difficult to do" she writes a personal letter to him which gets her husband locked up?

Caroline Jamieson you win DWB's first Vuvuzelas Award. I salute you!

Race and Dating In Boston

Meredith Goldstein
Boston.com

I am a young, black, college-educated professional who has lived in Boston for most of my life. I recently turned 30 and am ready to have a serious relationship with someone special, irrespective of race.

I have dated a few Caucasian and Asian men, and one person from the Middle East. Every one of these encounters ended immediately after they realized that I was expecting more than a sexual relationship (I usually ended it). However, getting to that point was only half the battle. The hardest part was the approach! I think a lot of surprisingly wonderful relationships could be had if people weren't afraid to step inside or outside of the "crayon box." There have been many instances where I'll overhear a white guy telling his friends how "hot" he thinks I am or after having way too many beers obnoxiously yell "I love Black chicks!" Not including the annoying drunk guy -- why won't non-black men approach me if there is physical interest? Before anyone ask... yes I date black men.

True Blood Season 3: Bon Temps Taste The Swirl

Alright I know True Blood is just a wee bit sickening with Ms Stackhouse running around acting like Ms Millie off The Color Purple. However the Tara, Jason, Sam and Eggs quadrangle more than made up for it the previous seasons.
IRR Alert--> Speaking of romances, looks like Tara has a new admirer. This looks sexy and yet frightening at the same time.
I'm just dying to see what the producers are planning to do with Aunjeanu Ellis. That's a baaad lady right there. Can't you just see her and Eric hooking up? No? Well I can see me hooking up with him. I'd be one fangbanging sistah if I lived down in the Bayou LOL.

Did The Black Woman's Role of Second Banana In Hollywood Receive an Upgrade?

Second Banana- noun Informal

1. One, such as an assistant or deputy, who is subordinate to another.

2. One who serves as the straight man opposite the leading comedian in a burlesque.
3. E.g. Larry, Curly, (and Shemp) is to Moe.
4. Gordon Quid and Waffle is to Mr Blik.

Earlier today while over at Skypurple's spot, I came across Columbia Pictures' movie trailer Eat Pray Love. It's the story of a white woman who travels the world to find Yoda herself and ends up finding true love in the process. It stars Julia Roberts, Javier Bardem and that fine azz James Franco. But hey this is Hollywood so what chick flick is complete without a BBF- Black Best Flunky Female? You know what I mean. The black chick that's either the sassy know-it-all, the matronly nurturer or the rational thinker.

Fo
r some strange reason, the primary job of the BBF is to uplift, teach and support the main character. More disturbing the BBF is almost always seen as asexual- never being paired up with anyone romantically or sexually. Except for that one time when Tara hooked up with Sam out in Bon Temps. However that's a story in itself. So imagine my surprise when I realized that Robert's BBF, Oscar Nominee Viola Davis is in a relationship with a...wait for it...a white man! Furthermore it appears that the two characters are actually married...to each other *gasps*

Even if this movie has made a slight attempt to go The Princess and The Frog route on us, it's not enough to make me wanna drop 10 bucks on a Julia flick. Frankly I'd rather see her brother Eric spazzing out in his trademark crazy-man roles. Besides, Eric Anthony has great hair!

So is Hollywood giving the BBF roles an upgrade with a twist? Will we begin
to see black women in more [interracial] romantic roles? Or will they continue to lag behind the real world?

Catch the trailer after the jump...
