Insomina Is A Bitch..But It Taught Me Over 6,700 Reasons Why...

Yeah we all know that insomina is a bitch.  Thank God for the innernet because without it, I'd be up until 4:00 AM watching P90X commercials. For example while surfing the net this morning, I came across a popular post on Fyooz.  This particular post not only started FOUR years ago, it's garnered over 6,700 responses and still counting!

What's the title of the article you ask? It's "Why White Men Love BlackWomen" duh!

Here's an excerpt:

Ever wondered why some white guys, love black women so much?  It seems that being a white male and proclaiming your attraction to black women (not only sexually, but also romantically) may lead to a lot of controversial and dangerous things. Let’s leave the debate of why more black women may be opening themselves up to white guys. The main focus of this debate is why some white guys are opening themselves to black women? Let’s concentrate on that.

Alrighty then.  Join the debate after the jump...

So Why Do YOU date Interracially?

According to Ownbla.com, interracial relationships are sexy, exciting and enlightening.  They're also different, that's what many singles are looking for in a companion. As human beings, men and women tend to become bored with the same routine. Whether it is their career, the food they eat or the significant other in their lives. When boredom is within the dating routine, American singles are more open to interracial dating.

Duh...tell us something we don't know!

Southern Blend: A Dating Experiment

Southern Blend is more than a documentary exploration of interracial relationships. The film will focus on a reality-style social experiment in which people will date outside their race or ethnicity for the first time, or cross racial and ethnic boundaries they have never crossed before in their dating life. Southern Blend will entertain and educate as it explores interracial dating in 2011 more after the jump...

Male Reader Wants To Start an Interracial Couples Group...But He’s In Omaha!

Hello my fellow swirlers.  Recently I received an email from a male reader that I wish to share with you.

Joe from Omaha, Nebraska writes:

Hello, I came across your article about interracial couples.  I am white and prefer to date outside my race.  Although I see a fair amount of mixed couples here in Omaha there seems to be a lot of blacks, Hispanics and whites who don't accept it.  I thought about starting a group for people here that are interested in interracial dating but given the circumstances I'm not sure how well that would go over…
My response:

Hi Joe,

Thanks for writing!  You said that you've seen mixed couples in your area? Well that's a good thing! I wouldn’t focus too much on those who don't accept it because they won’t be your target audience anyway. Have you thought about starting a Facebook Group or a Myspace Page specifically targeted to those who have a genuine interest in IRR couples/dating? The Facebook option is great because you can get lots of group participation and designate people to help run your group and spread the word for future parties. This is also a great idea because your target area would also reach outside of your town/city. After you build up a fan base, take it to the next level: branch out into Meetup Groups and interracial parties!

So my DWB family, Is there anyone out there that can give Joe some advise?  Do you also live in an area that's not particularly IR friendly?  How do you meet people in areas that don't have a lot of  interracial daters?

Looking forward to your responses!

On To The Next One!

Weeks ago Gabriel dropped his petition for child custody and spousal support. I guess that's a hugh sigh of relief since ex-husband's Eric Benet and David Justice both had their grubby little hands in her pockets. Over the weekend she was spotted having dinner with sexy boyfriend Olivier Martinez. I sometimes wish these celebrities would take a breather and just be by themselves sometimes.  Team Berry!

Are You a Dating Time Waster?

Are you a woman who’s tired of being hit on by the creepy dude in the club? Are you a guy who’s tired of hanging out at bars because you’re either smirked at or ignored by the women you’re interested in? Does the “buyer beware stickers” of online dating make you want to choke yourself? Does the thought of bumping into “teeny-boppers “on the dance floor make you WISH you were being hit on by the creepy dude at the bar?  These scenarios are played out in every nightclub and lounge in America- 8 Minutes & Cocktails

Does Your Family Ask You to Dumb Yourself Down For a Love Interest?

While surfing the net this morning, I came across this post on an interracial forum:

Hello everyone. For the last eight years I started dating, black, white, whatever.  I recently told me [sic] mom that I was dating a nice white man. He is so f-ing great. She told me that she would pray that I find a black man and told me that If I wanted a black man to stop telling them that I am smart and do kick-boxing.  I like who I am and who I'm dating. But she is so serious about this and has stopped talking to me because of it- Spottedfeet, 25 Years old, Louisianna

Seriously? In 2011 there are parents telling their daughters (specifically mothers) not to let a man know how intelligent they are.  I’m all about being a little competitive on the battlefield but this is both sad and ridiculous. I’m also disturbed that  her mother is trying to push her into a relationship with an insecure man just because he's black however giving her grief for dating a white man. Thankfully this young lady knows her worth and has reached out to share her situation.  *Sigh*

Swirling In Hollywood International Style

When it somes to big name directors in Hollywood, Phillip Noyce certainly fits the bill.  With hits like Clear and Present Danger, The Bone Collector, Patriot games and Salt, Phillip has proven that he's as talented as he is versatile.  Here he is with South African wife Vuyo Dyasi and son Luvuyo at the Grauman's Chinese theatre in Hollywood.

What I really appreciate about Phillip is that he's often photographed with his wife at high profile events.  A lot of times, you don't know these hi-profiled celebrities and industry people are married to African/African American Women.  The MSM does little to no coverage which is quite sad.

To find out how the two of them met and see candid shots of their beautiful family stop by Ezinemark.
