While surfing the net this morning, I came across this post on an interracial forum:
Hello everyone. For the last eight years I started dating, black, white, whatever. I recently told me [sic] mom that I was dating a nice white man. He is so f-ing great. She told me that she would pray that I find a black man and told me that If I wanted a black man to stop telling them that I am smart and do kick-boxing. I like who I am and who I'm dating. But she is so serious about this and has stopped talking to me because of it- Spottedfeet, 25 Years old, Louisianna
Seriously? In 2011 there are parents telling their daughters (specifically mothers) not to let a man know how intelligent they are. I’m all about being a little competitive on the battlefield but this is both sad and ridiculous. I’m also disturbed that her mother is trying to push her into a relationship with an insecure man just because he's black however giving her grief for dating a white man. Thankfully this young lady knows her worth and has reached out to share her situation. *Sigh*

Despite The Odds, Omaha Nebraska Swirling It Up!
We welcome all interracial
couples and multicultural families. This is a group where we can feel free to discuss the issues and problems of our lives as well as celebrate who we are and how we feel about our diversity- Lanee Amador
According to the 2008 Census Bureau, Omaha's racial makeup of the city is 78.4% White, 13.3% African American, 0.7% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.92% from two or more races. 7.5% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. Despite (or in spite of) the numbers, The Midwest Interracial Couples/Multicultural Families Group is breaking new ground!
Founded by Lanee February 2010, its been a little difficult organizing the Meetups and picking up members. The Midwest Interracial Group has 6 members and is expected to increase as the word gets around...and perhaps the restriction on the maximum age will drop.
So if you happen to live in Omaha, the home of Paypal, Warren Buffet, TD Ameritrade and LinkedIn, show Lanee some love and get your swirl...if you're under 35.

We Interrupt Our Regularly Scheduled Broadcast...

I'd like to thank everyone for giving Dating While Brown some love. Since blogging, we've received continuous love from the U.K., Canada, Australia, Germany, Korea, Africa, France, China, and the West Indies just to name a few. We've had several site changes and glitches yet you guys never seemed fazed!
Recently we picked up some new readership over in Sweden. Upon doing a Google search of DWB this morning, this is what I found:
Håll koll på Dating While Brown och andra favoritbloggar med Bloglovin'. Märk direkt när dina favoriter skrivit nya inlägg. På Svenska.
Loosely translated it says:
Keep track of Dating While Brown and other favorite blogs with bloglovin '. Rated directly in your favorite writing new posts. In Swedish.
So I say welcome aboard Sweden!
This goes to show you that interracial love is embraced, accepted and of interest in just about every corner of the world. Never feel down or defeated if your feelings or your relationships are not accepted where you are. Somewhere, somehow, someone is experiencing the same things you are. If you can't get the support or answers that's pertaining to your situation here, visit one of my fellow bloggers over to your right. We even have links that will direct you to some great male bloggers that will also offer their experiences and knowledge. If you write in another language we'll get it translated...Google Tools baby!
So once again, thank you for the time you spend here because I know that time is a commodity that we could all use more of.
Lastly, to the all those of you who oppose interracial love, I also say thank you because without you, DWB wouldn't have the motivation to spread the message!
(((HUGS and KISSES)))
New post up tonight.

My Apologies

Sorry for the lack of blogging lately. We're a soccer family and currently we're in the middle of indoor soccer season.
Yesterday my daughter got roughed up a bit. One of the players on the opposing team gave her two high kicks to her thigh and calf area. The opposing player also pinched her on the right side of her stomach. The girl's father sat next to me and he continued to encourage his daughter to "get aggressive" with my daughter! My daughter returned the favor by pushing her down several times. My daughter was also tripped a few times throughout the game. At one point her shoe came off while passing the ball to one of her teammates. Mr Father-of-the-year yells out, "That'll slow her down." I guess it's the price you pay when you're a little faster and more agile than members of the opposing team.
People usually joke and say there's only one rule in indoor soccer and that there are no rules! Hell they don't even take score LOL.
Anwho, after indoor season, we go right into British Soccer Camp and after that it's outdoor soccer season, yeah baby!
Had we been outdoors, little "Becky" would've received a yellow card *smh*
